DOI : 10.21566/tarbitderg.437268 - The presence and intensity of harmful insects on yield variables and quality characteristics of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is a growing interest, in almost all production area of Turkey. To determine the beneficial and harmful effects of certain insects on different bean varieties; called Local-1, Local-2, Local-3, Local-4, Aras-98, Yakutiye-98, Terzibaba, Mecidiye, Elkoca and Kantar,a field experimental was conducted at Bingol University, Agricultural Application and Research Center in 2016. Acanthoscelides obtectus collected from the present experimental were grown on the seeds of the mentioned bean cultivars under laboratory conditions. The population development and the detrimental effects of seed-beetle (Acanthoscelides obtectus) damages were also determined. According to the results, Terzibaba was found as the most resistant cultivar against Acanthoscelides obtectus, whereas Local-3 was the most sensitive one.
