1 Tarla Bitkileri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüğü, Ankara - This study is carried out to determine land use changes by Geographic Information Systems and Remote sensing methods in Yenimahalle district of Ankara province. Changes in land use were identified between 2000-2005 and 2000-2010. For the study Landsat-5 image of year 2000, Ikonos image of year 2005, and SPOT image of year 2010 were used. 1:25000 scale topo maps and soil maps, and CORINE land use data were also used. GPS data collected from field were used for ground truth studies. Land use classes of Corine database were combined into 8 classes as urban, rangeland, forest, water body, agricultural land, industry, barren land, and mining area. Manuel digitizing were done on satellite images of year 2000, 2005 and 2010 to create poligons of above land use classes. One kod number(1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) was assigned to each land use classes. Overlay anaysis was done among the land use layers representing each year to analyse land use changes by using ArcGIS Arc Map 10.0 software. Changes in land use classes between years 2000 and 2010 were as follows; The highest changes were in rangeland class as 11.04% decline, then urban area as 6.47% increase and industrial areas as % 3.10 increase. There were slightly increase in agricultural lands (% 0,24), forest lands (%0,83) and barren lands (% 0,41). In the project area (52.214 ha), no change in land use were detected in the 33.564 ha (% 64,28) area, on the other hand land use change was detected on the reamining 18.649 ha (% 35,72) of project area. The producer accuracy was 86.6% and total accuracy was % 84,56 in the data produced from year 2010 image. Keywords : Agricultural Lands, Misuse, Urbanization, Change Detection, GIS
