- Effects of nitrogen rates on the grain yield of Tokak 157/37, Anadolu 89 and Obruk 89 barley cultivars were investigated under fallow-cereal rotation system in Central Anatolia during years of 1985-1988. Functional relations between nitrogen rates and grain yields of barley cultivars that were identifited are Y= 289 + 23.1 X - 1.73 X2 for Tokak 157/37 Y= 290 + 22.3 X - 1.41 X2 for Anadolu 89 and Y= 288 + 21.9 X - 1.61 X2 for Obruk 89, where X is pure N rate as kg/da and Y is the grain yield. The highest grain yield was obtained at the level of 7 kg/da N rate for Anadolu 89 and 6 kg/da for the other. Economical analyses have shown that 6 kg N/da was the most economic rate for all barley cultivars studied. Keywords : Barley; fallow-cereal rotation system; nitrogen rate; yield
