- The aim of this research was to determine the separete and combine effects of different doses of gamma rays and EMS concentrations on some characteritics of M1 plants of durum wheat, cv. Kunduru 1149. The seeds of durum wheat, cv. Kunduru 1149 which were irradiated with 50 Gy, 150 Gy and 250 Gy gamma rays and / or treated EMS for 6 hours at 30C in 0.2 % and 0.4 % concentrated. The seeds were not presoaked before, they were treated for 6 hours with EMS. The seeds were washed in flushing tap water for 4 hours, after treatment with EMS.

According to the results of this research; separate and combine treatments of different doses gamma rays and EMS have not shown significant difference in germination rate of control and M1 plants of durum wheat, cv. Kunduru 1149 which emerged on the soil surface, although they have caused late germination of seeds at growth chamber. The negative effects of increasing doses of mutagens on all plant characteritics for M1 plants were found statistically significant. Combined treatments were found to be more efficient than the sum of effects of the single treatments. Keywords : Durum wheat; gamma rays; M1 plants
