- This research was carried out to determine effects of the mixture rates of berseem elover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.) and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) on the forage yield at the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara in 1991.

The highest seedling number per square meter was obtained as 815.77 from the mixture of 20% berseem clover + 80% Italian ryegrass. The highest dry weight of berseem clover seedlings was 2.59 g in pure berseem clover stand but the highest dry weight of Italian ryegrass seedlings was 2.96 g in the mixture of 60% berseem clover + 40% Italian ryegrass. The maximum fresh yield was determined as 1732.15 kg/da from the mixture of 80% berseem clover +20% Italian ryegrass, while the maximum hay yield was 449.23 kg/da in the mixture of 20% berseem clover + 80% Italian ryegrass. The highest dry matter ratio and matter yield were found as 83.30% and 371.13 kg/da from the mixture of 40% berseem clover + 60% Italian rygrass respectively. The maximum crude protein ratio was determined as 14.84% from the mixture of 80% berseem clover + 20% Italian ryegrass, mean while the maximum crude protein yield was 54.7 kg/da from the mixture of 80% berseem clover +20% Italian ryegrass. Keywords : Berseem elover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.); Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.); hay yield
