Aynur KURAL 1 , Menşure ÖZGÜVEN 2

- This study was carried out to determine the effects of Brassica napus winter rape cv. Quinta, Cascade and spring rape cv. Westar, Lirawell and Semu 86/225 Na with five planting dates (September 1, 15; October 1, 15; November 1) on seed yield. Experiment was conducted between 1991-1993 in Diyarbakır. Experimental design was RCBD split-plot with 3 replications. It was shown that, flowering date of early-maturing cultivars was affected by planting date but that of winter cultivars was not. Sowing Westar and Lirawell earlier than last week of September induced precocious flowering, predisposing it to cold injury in winter. In conclusion, plant height, the number of branch, the number of pod, the number of seed in per pad and seed yield were affected from planting date. There best sowing date for winter types was up to mid-September, and for Summer rape it was up to beginning of October. Maximum average seed yield was 442 kg/da for cv. Quinta September 1 seeding date. Keywords : Brassica napus L.; rapseed; planting date
