1 Tarla Bitkileri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüğü,ANKARA - The objective of this research was to find out the effect of zinc and iron fertilization on the yields of chickpea genotypes provided by TARM – food legüme improvement protect. Zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) and iron chelates (2kgZn/da,%0.5Fe2SO4) were used as a sources of zinc and iron. The results indicated that zinc application proveded yield increases, depending on genotypes. On the other hand, iron was less affective on the yield of chickpea genotypes as compare with zinc.

Iron+zinc had not any influence on yield during the research.Yield increaseas due to zinc required further research to determine the optimum rate of zinc application. For this purpose the rates of 0, 0.5 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 kgZn/da and four different varieties (Gökçe, Akçin 91, İzmir 92, and ILC 482) were investigated for three years in areas where soil zinc levels were critical (Haymana- Ankara, Kadınhanı-Konya).

The results showed that Zn application was more effective in wet years than dry seasons and the responses to different rates of Zn were differential in locations. The rates should be decided according to the soil properties. Keywords : Chickpea, zinc, iron yield
