1 A.Ü. Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü, ANKARA - The research was carried out in the experimental fields of Field Crops Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University in 1996-97. Nine durum wheat varieties were studied to determine the correlations between grain filling rate and duration of grain filling with some yield components. According to obtained results, there were significant differences among the wheat varieties in grain filling rate and duration of grain filling. The highest grain filling duration was (831.6 °C / day) in Çakmak-79 and the lowest (771.4 °C / day) in Tunca-79 varieties. Grain filling rate of durum wheat ranged from 0.0715 mg / °C/day (Ç-1252) to 0.0529 mg / °C/ day (Gokgöl-79). Grain filling duration was positively correlated with grain yield but negatively correlated with grain filling rate. Keywords : Durum wheat; grain filling rate; duration of grain filling; yield
