- The effect. of N rate on yield of Çakmak 79 and Kunduru 1149 durum; wheat varieties in Northern transitional zone were investigated. The experiments were carried out in farmer fields. Combined analysis of 8 trials has shown that Kunduru 1149 gave the highest yield at 12 Kg/da, the most economical yield at 10 Kg/da N application. The relationship between grain yield of Kunduru 1149 and N rate can be expressed by following equation : Y= 121 + 27. 58 X - 1.31 X2. Combined analysis of 9 experiments conducted with Çakmak 79 has showed that 9 kg/da N application gave the highest grain yield, while 10 kg/da gave. the most economical yield. The equation describing the relationship between grain yield of Çakmak 79 and N rate is: Y= 123 + 27.82 X - 1.18 X2. Keywords : Durum wheat; legume-wheat rotation systems; nitrogen rate; yield
