- This study was conducted in the growing season of 2001-2002 on the field with high boron content (12.92 ppm) in konya, bahri dağdaş ınternational agricultural research Institute. The aim of this study was to determine reactions and yield and yield components of 9 durum wheat varieties grown in control and applied 0.9 kg B/da against already existing boron concentration.

Application of boron increased the number of plant per square meter at the stage of emergence, however decreased the grain yield with respect to control. On the other hand, application of boron had no significant effect as statistically on spike number per square meter, plant height and boron concentration of flag leaf.

Differences among varieties were significant as statistically in whole observed characters. Kızıltan-91, Yılmaz-98 and Altıntaş had higher grain yield and spike number per square meter and lower boron concentration of flag leaf than other varieties. So this varities can be planted as more succesefull in the area with toxic boron concentration.

With respect to the results of correlation analysis, it was determined negative and significant correlation between the amount of boron of flag leaf and grain yield (r=-0.460**). Besides the deteminetion of negative and significant correlations between amount of boron of flag leaf and spike number per square meter and plant height (r=-0.273* and r=-0.289*, respectively) indicated toxic level of boron in the soils of experimental area.
