THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT ROW SPACING AND NITROGEN DOSES ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS IN PEA (Pisum sativum L)

Dışkapı, Ankara-Türkiye - The research was conducted at Applying and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara in 1998. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of three different row spacing (20, 30, 40 cm) and three different nitrogen doses (0, 2, 4 kg/da) on plant height, plant weight, number of pod per plant, number of seed per plant, seed yield per plant, harvest index, one hundred seed weight and seed yield per decar of Pea cv Karina. The experiment was established according to split plots of randomized blocks with three replications in the winter and spring sowing times. 6 kg/da P2O5 and inoculation were applied in the sowing time and the plot size was 2.5 m x 2.4 m. According to the results of this research; Different doses and row spacing have caused significant differences in plant height, number of pod per plant and yield. Row spacing only affected harvest index, the effect of both factors were non-significant on 100 seed weight. The differences among nitrogen doses and row spacing with N doses X row spacing interaction are determined to be statistically significant in plant weight, number of seed per plant and seed yield per plant. Inoculation, which was not a factor in the experiment but was effective. Positive and significant differences in development of plant, yield and yield components were seen in 40 cm row spacing using with 2 kg/da nitrogen applications.
