- The Effect of Sowing Rate on Yield and Yield Components of Bitter Vetch (Vicia ervilia (L.) Willd.) This research was carried out at the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara in 1989. In this research, the bitter vetch line was used as the material which has reached to the last step of the selection breeding. 15, 30, 45 cm row distance, 3, 6, 9 cm with in the distance were applied and obtained maximum mean values were given as fallow: Plant height as 36.8 cm in 3x45 cm, the lowest pod height as 13.7 cm in 3x15 cm, main branch number as 3.53 cm in 9x45 cm, side branch number as 6.77 in 9x45 cm, pod number per plant as 63.87 in 9x45 cm, seed yield per plant as 6.04 g in 9x45 cm, straw yield per plant as 4.73 g in 9x45 cm, seed yield per m2 as 309 g in 9x15 cm, straw yield per m2 as 268.33 g in 6x15 cm and thousand seed weight as 45.04 g in 3x15 cm sowing densities. Keywords : Bitter vetch; Vicia ervilia (L.) Willd.; sowing rate; yield components
